7 'healthy' snacks that actually aren't healthy at all

Starting with vegetable crisps, for one..

Done right, snacking can keep hunger at bay, fuel your energy levels and provide a great source of health-boosting nutrients. Done wrong, snacking can leave you feeling tired, sluggish and hungrier than before, as well as full of empty-calories that don't fill you up at all.

Why Your Random Eating Schedule Is Risky for Your Health

Research suggests the timing of your meals may affect your weight, cholesterol, and insulin levels.

Do you ever postpone dinner because you’re in the middle of a project? Or skip breakfast because you overslept? As long as you avoid binging later on, it’s no big deal, right?
Well, maybe not.
Two new papers published in the Proceedings of the Nutrition Society suggest that it’s not just what you eat, but when you eat that affects your health. Having irregular meals may set you up for obesity, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes—regardless of how many total calories you’re consuming.

Avo-Tahini Toast

If you think you're over avocado toast, this topper will change your mind. Fresh avocado, grape tomatoes, kalamata olives, and a hard-cooked egg drizzled with tahini create a truly addicting combination. So what is tahini? Tahini is the stuff of life in Israel, like olive oil in Italy or butter in France. The paste, made from toasted ground hulled sesame seeds, is nutty and rich, with a slightly bitter finish and an unctuous mouthfeel akin to peanut butter. Look for tahini that’s well blended (little to no separation). Make sure to give your tahini a good stir before drizzling, and refrigerate after opening. Use more of the delicious paste in our Tahini Swirl Brownies.
