I Took Melatonin Every Night—Until I Learned This

When a friend first told me about melatonin, it seemed almost too good to be true: The sleep aid is 100% natural, is available over the counter, and almost guarantees a good night's sleep. After a few restless nights, I popped a pill and dozed off in no less than five minutes.

5 Things You Need to Stop Doing "Right Now" in Order to Be Happy

Happiness is subjective, but nonetheless, most people spend their entire lives chasing their unique definition of it. While family, personal and professional success, and self-confidence certainly help, psychological performance coach Alok Trivedi argues that you must first stop negative thought patterns and behaviors in order to find true happiness.

These 3 Everyday Habits Can Make You Look Older Than You Are

While aging is inevitable, sprouting fine lines and wrinkles before your time is under your control. "Turns out, many of the habits you do every day—some you probably don't even recognize you're doing—might be making you look way older than your years," writes Women's Health.

How to Tightline Eyes

Tightlining your eyes (also known as "invisible eye liner") is a great way to add subtle definition to your peepers. Most people think that the point of tightlining is to make your eyes look bigger, but according to Los Angeles-based makeup artist, Jason Sanchez “it’s to make your eyelashes appear thicker and fuller.” Instead of lining the skin above your lashes, you line the inside of the upper lash line and in between the roots of the lashes.

Marijuana: Facts About Cannabis

Marijuana is the slang term for portions of the Cannabis plant. It is one of the oldest psychoactive substances used by man.
Marijuana, also called pot, weed, ganja, mary jane, and a host of other nicknames, is made from the Cannabis plant, which has three species: Cannabis sativaCannabis indica and Cannabis ruderalis. The flowering plant, which can grow to 16 feet (5 meters) high, likely originated in the Central Asian steppe, near the Altai or Tian Shian Mountains, and was first cultivated in China and India, according to "Cannabis and Cannabinoids: Pharmacology, Toxicology and Therapeutic Potential," (Routledge, 2002).

Love Buzz: Marijuana Use Linked to Sexual Activity

People who frequently use marijuana are likely to have sex more often, a new study suggests.
The researchers found that the women in the study who said they hadn't used marijuana in the past year reported that they'd had sex an average of six times in the previous month. Women who did report using marijuana in the past year reported that they'd had sex more frequently, an average of seven times in the previous month.

3 Skin Care Mistakes Dermatologists Wish You'd Stop Making

There are plenty of skin care rules we know we should be following for our best possible skin. Number one, you should be wearing sunscreen, to prevent skin cancer and minimize wrinkles. What Is Gaslighting — & Is Your Partner Doing It to You?

If you recognize any of these subtle signs in yourself, you might be the victim of gaslighting

You've probably heard the term floating around  — but what is gaslighting, really? In short, it's a kind of undercover relationship manipulation that turns into a total mindfuck. If your partner is making you feel crazy — and accusing you of being too sensitive to make the "crazy" label stick — the problem might not be all in your head.

The other milk

Move over almond milk. Flax milk is a great nondairy option if you're looking for an anti-inflammatory boost, says Staci Small, a registered dietitian based in Indiana. The milk is made with flax oil, which is rich in an omega-3 fatty acid called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Reasons you're not losing that belly fat

Excess belly fat is a common concern, but the repercussions go well beyond how comfortable you may or may not feel in a certain pair of jeans. In fact, carrying this extra weight around your waist can be a precursor to a vast array of health issues, such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and various types of cancers. And while you may be doing your best to shed those pesky midriff pounds, there are seven key factors that are undermining your efforts to win the "no belly" prize.

Health problems that can be caused by belly fat

Most people would love to shed a few pounds, especially around the midsection. It doesn't have to be swimsuit season for us to want that six-pack, but belly fat goes way beyond appearance. Fat around our midsections means serious health consequences. Because it's closer to our organs, it's more dangerous than carrying fat in other areas of the body, such as the hips or legs.

Deborah Lippmann's Best At-Home Manicure Tip

Unlike some of the kids in my elementary school art class who were blessed with real skills, coloring in the lines was never one of my strong suits. Even today, I’ll admit that I’m still perfectly awful at it. But, hey, is it really necessary that I stay within the lines if I’m coloring every commercial break while I absentmindedly devour Keeping Up With The Kardashians reruns? I didn’t think so.
Nails, on the other hand, are a completely different story. Unlike coloring books, which you can mess up as much as you’d like and no one would ever judge you for your shading skills (or lack thereof), painting your nails requires surgeon-like precision — even if you skip the nail art. Given my history with coloring, you can only imagine what my nails — and cuticles! — regularly look like after a fresh coat of polish. Toss an oxblood-colored polish into the mix, and it basically looks like I committed a crime.
