Many a celeb have sat shotgun alongside James Corden for a round of Carpool Karaoke, but no one (not even Justin Bieber or a member of One Direction) has made an impact quite as strong as the segment's most recent guest: Adele.
From singing along to the Spice Girls at the top of her lungs to slaying Nicki Minaj's rap verse on "Monster," everything about the Brit's appearance was brilliant. So brilliant, in fact, The Late Late Show with James Corden's executive producer, Ben Winston, even considered making "an entire episode of it."
"She was having a great time, and James was having a great time," Winston tells Vulture. "She's a remarkable woman. She is the biggest star, I would say, in the world right now. But yet she's the most down-to-earth, lovely girl you could meet. You sometimes wonder if success will change someone, but it wasn't with her. She's as wonderful as you would hope she would be."
While one hour was allotted to film the 15-minute segment, Adele enjoyed herself so much she lost track of time and extended shooting with Corden by "a couple of hours." After they were finished taping, Winston admits he had 54 minutes of footage worthy of airtime. In the end, though, he decided to keep it short.
"I think you've got to be sort of strict with yourself, and kill things that you love," he says. "There were some amazing, amazing bits in there. But we chose what we felt was the best 14, 15 minutes…The best television always leaves you wanting more."
Wanting more indeed. Our fingers are crossed for a part two. Until then, relive the magic below:
